B'desh MP's body cut into pieces, loaded in trolley after murder

New details have emerged in the murder case of Bangladeshi MP Anwarul Azim Anar. Police are confident that the murder was driven by business rivalry, as confirmed by the Bidhannagar Police and CID after a video conference with Bangladeshi police and detainees on Wednesday evening. However, other potential motives are also being investigated.

A car was rented on April 30. Anwarul Azim Anar traveled in this car from Baranagar to Newtown on May 13, accompanied by two men and a woman.

On May 14, three people were seen leaving with a trolley bag, without the MP. The cab driver reported inconsistencies in his statement, and police suspect the trolley contained the dismembered body of Anar. Reports indicated victim was strangled and hit on the head to ensure his death on May 13 in his Newtown flat. His body was reportedly cut into pieces and stored in a freezer before being disposed of in plastic bags.

Police obtained video footage from the housing complex where Anar was staying, which revealed blood stains and identified a getaway car. CCTV footage showed that on the night of May 13, following the murder, a man and a woman fled in the app cab. Both individuals have been detained and are being interrogated.

CCTV footage shows a small red car stopping outside a Newtown residence, with three people, including Anar, exiting the vehicle. Following the murder, a woman and a man were seen escaping in an app cab.

Anwarul Azim Anar went missing after arriving in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment. The search began on May 18 when Gopal Biswas, a Baranagar resident and acquaintance of Anar, filed a missing person complaint.
